The PC2R comes with 400 fantastic sounding preset programs (256 regular programs, 128 Orchestral ROM programs, and 16 KB3 programs). Orchestral Sounds include String Sections, Solo Strings, Woodwinds, Orchestral Brass, Jazz Brass, Orchestral Ensembles, Choir, Organ, Harp, Nylon String Guitar, Orchestral Percussion, and Ethnic Percussion.
It also features Kurzweil’s KB-3 modeled tone wheel organ mode, giving you ultra-realistic tone wheel organ programs with programmable drawbar, vibrato/chorus, percussion settings, and more. For this reason, it is a good idea when sequencing to put as much of this controller info into your tracks, to assure you have your settings the way you want for each song.This is a songwriter’s dream palette! It provides impeccable high quality new sounds including a brand new super dynamic stereo grand piano, stereo strings, Take 6 vocals, brass section, classic electric pianos (FM, Wurlitzer and Classic Tine EPs ), organs, harpsichord, Clavinet, vibes, marimba, electric and acoustic basses (with and without layered ride cymbal), guitars, drums, percussion and synth sounds. This also means that if you go to MIDI Setups Mode, any channels used by a Setup you select will be changed to the settings found in that Setup, and the next time you go to MIDI Receive mode, you will see those changes reflected in the display. Each channel will stay on its current settings until you either change it from the front panel or send MIDI program change and/or controller messages. There is only a single global setting of these parameters.

Is there something I'm not getting here? Is it even possible to record in this mode? The setup plays correctly again until I try to record! I stop recording and turn the alpha wheel to the next setup,and then back again.
#KURZWEIL PC2X PC2R SOUND MODULE PATCH#
Now for some strange reason, when I hit the "record" button in my DAW to start recording, the patch totally changes to that of what sounds like the first patch in "midi recieve" mode. I arm the track and get a good response from the record meter. Since these sounds don't have a specific "midi channel", I attempt to record directly into an "Audio" track. It sounds great as I play my controller keyboard, working on a pattern I want to record. I'm in midi setup mode and find a setup I like, ("S014 After Hours - A14 1:Scatman"). But when I try to record those really cool setups this is what happens: While in "Midi Recieve" mode everything records as it should. I've been accessing the more "advanced" features of the PC2R recently (layers, splits etc.), and found that while in the "Midi Setups" mode I cannot record those sounds in my DAW.
